Training is the key to any team's effectiveness.
A unit can have all the equipment in the world, but
if the individual personnel are not trained properly
in its use, they cannot make effective or safe use
of it.
Training in Civil Defence is conducted by qualified
instructors in the relevant services.Weekly sessions
are complemented with regular weekend training in
specific areas and with courses which are run at county
or higher levels. Instructors attend courses at or
approved by the Civil Defence School in the skills
they wish to qualify to instruct. They also attend
courses in teaching methods.
Skills learned in training sessions are put into
practice and developed during various exercises and
competitions.
The sections give an indication of the different
training conducted in Laois Civil Defence.
