Laois
Civil Defence is a part-time volunteer service, it
depends on new personnel to keep it in operation.
Would you like to help your local community while
learning new skills and having fun at the same time?
The age criteria are that you be over 17 and under
60. You should also be reasonably healthy. Volunteers
are, as the name suggests unpaid, but expenses incurred
are reimbursed, so you won't be out of pocket by joining.
Regular
attendance is encouraged, but considerable flexibility
exists regarding other commitments, e.g. school, work,
etc. You don't sign your life away by joining, you
can leave at any stage. Among the benefits of becoming
part of the team are; useful training in first aid,
firefighting etc., a chance to partake in such activities
as abseiling, boating, camping, good craic, a sense
of making a difference, a great entry on a C.V. and
of course bright yellow overalls!
There
are any number of opportunities to participate, and
any skills you can bring to us will be greatly appreciated.
To
see about joining just contact us by phone or email
(see contact page). We will
invite you to come along to training to see things
for yourself.

you're not from Laois, try this list
