- County Camp this year for Laois is at Fort Cambden in Cork. No.3 base will be participating in the camp which runs from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th August. No.3 Base personnel will be providing the meals on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

- A strange series of disappearances of local pets, principally cats and dogs has been baffling local Gardai. It has also been reported that the vermin population in the Durrow area has suddenly dropped. The investigation is continuing.
