A training exercise was conducted in Durrow for personnel from throughout the county today a part of the rescue training programme.

The exercise covered Basic Rescue and Casualty handling skills and was coordinated by the Durrow unit.

It took place in the Dunmore Woods outside the town and involved removing several casualties from an underground tunnel in poor visibility conditions.

A workshop dealing with riverside searching had to be postponed due to severe weather conditions.

Several more exercises are planned for the next few months to build on the skills learned in weekly training classes.
