The Minister of State at
the Department of Defence has published the new Civil
Defence Bill for the development of the orgainsation
countrywide.
It proposes the setting
up of a Civil Defence Board representing government
dept.'s, state agencies, county managers, CDO's and
volunteers together with outside experts. This board
would have decision-making powers on admin and training.
This would represent the
first update of Civil Defence Legislation since the
Air Raid Precautions Act of 1946.
