On St. Stephen's Day, while many people were trying to sleep off the turkey and ham, hundreds of people turned out for the annual sponsored walk in Clonaslee in support of Laois Hospice.

There were two routes, a 3.5 mile walk around the Clonaslee area and a ten mile walk in the Slieve Blooms.

Laois Civil Defence attended with around 30 personnel, an ambulance, a minibus, two 4wd vehicles and a support car. Fortunately the only first-aid required was for a few blistered feet.
