- The county camp took place in Ballyfin from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd September. The event was hosted by No.1 Base (Mountmellick) at the Patrician College. Full use was made of the lake on the grounds to train with the boat and an exercise took place involving it on Saturday. Abseiling was also carried out from the buildings of the college. Members of Limerick and Kildare C.D. were also present as were most of the members of No.3 Base.

- Vol. Anthony Tynan from No.3 base attended a course in the Civil Defence School, Dublin on the same weekend and during the following week. This involved Modules 1 & 2 as well as a Module 3 course in Welfare.

- On Wednesday 11th October personnel from Laois C.D. travelled up to Aras an Uachtarain to meet the President, Mary McAleese. After meeting her the visitors received a tour of the Aras. Afterwards they went to Casement Aerodrome for a tour of the Air Corps' base there. The day concluded with a meal in Tracey's. Thanks are extended to T.O. Fergal Conroy who arranged the day-out and to Kildare C.D. who provided additional transport.
