The Durrow base is located near the
town square, on the Cork road. The building was formerly
the town Fire Station. In 2001 the building was re-roofed
and an internal refurbishment took place. In 2002 the
new yellow paint scheme was applied, currently a structure
to house the fire appliance is being added. To the rear
of the building there is a yard which is used for training.
The unit has a current membership of
around 35, with three officers, 3 leaders and 29 volunteers.
Rescue, AFS, Casualty and Warden training takes place
at No.3 Base. The unit has a catchment area throughout
South County Laois.
Durrow is the base for the county AFS
appliance and team and the K9 unit
is also based there. |
