The county control centre is located underneath County Hall in Portlaoise. It is equipped with a HEPA air filtration system, radio base sets, a landline switchboard and all the equipment of a command and control centre.

The Laois Operational Support Unit is also attached to the Portlaoise unit, and forms a mobile command/communications and support vehicle capable of operating in support of CD activities where necessary. It is equipped with computers, radios, maps and telephone equipment in the front section, and carries a large amount of support equipment in the rear section.
